Electricians Health, Welfare and Pension Plans, IBEW 995

Welcome to the Website of the Electricians Health and Welfare Plan, IBEW 995 and the Electricians Pension Plan, IBEW 995!  The Health and Welfare Plan was established in 1964. It provides medical, prescription drug, life/accidental death and dismemberment benefits to eligible employees and dependents. The Pension Plan was established in 1970. It provides pension benefits to eligible employees at retirement and in some cases, a pre-retirement death benefit and surviving spouse pension. The Pension Plan is a defined benefit plan funded solely by employer contributions.

These benefit plans are the joint effort of IBEW LU 995 and signatory contractors through the National Electrical Contractors Association to provide financial security to covered employees and their families. Each benefit plan is self-funded through a Taft-Hartley trust fund regulated by ERISA. When an employee works in covered employment, the employer contributes to each fund on the employee’s behalf based on the collective bargaining or participation agreement then in effect. The employer contributions and related investment earnings are then used to pay the benefits and administrative costs of that fund.

Each plan and fund is governed by a Board of Trustees with equal representation of labor and management. There are currently three labor trustees and three management trustees serving on each Board. The Boards are responsible for the financial management and operation of their respective benefit plan and fund. The Trustees are fiduciaries and have exclusive authority and discretion to determine all matters that arise under their benefit plan and fund. They retain the services of professionals as needed to advise and assist them.

This website is a Joint Board effort intended to improve communication and provide better access to plan documents and notices for participants. Below you will find links to view or download various documents for both plans. We intend to update these links as needed to advise you of important changes to the benefit plans. As always, remember to notify the Fund Office of any changes in address or family members.
